StatNews #76 Modeling Approaches to Binary Logistic Regression with Correlated Data

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Binary logistic regression is a versatile statistical tool for analyzing binary responses in a wide range of disciplines (see Statnews #44 for an introduction to logistic regression). Similar to ordinary least squares regression, one key assumption in regular binary logistic regression is that observations are independent of each other. Violations of the assumption of independence of observations may result in incorrect statistical inferences due to biased standard errors.

Detection of and Adjustment for Multiple Unmeasured Confounding Variables in Logistic Regression by Bayesian Structural Equation Modeling

Aim: To compare the bias magnitude between logistic regression and Bayesian structural equation modeling (SEM) in a small sample with strong unmeasured confounding from two correlated latent variables. Study Design: Statistical analysis of artificial data. Methodology: Artificial binary data with above characteristics were generated and analyzed by logistic regression and Bayesian SEM over a pl...

Binary Regression With a Misclassified Response Variable in Diabetes Data

Objectives: The categorical data analysis is very important in statistics and medical sciences. When the binary response variable is misclassified, the results of fitting the model will be biased in estimating adjusted odds ratios.  The present study aimed to use a method to detect and correct misclassification error in the response variable of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), applying binary ...

Comparison of ordinary logistic regression and robust logistic regression models in modeling of pre-diabetes risk factors

Background: Regarding the increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes in pre-diabetic people, identifying pre-diabetes and determining of its risk factors seems so necessary. In this study, it is aimed to compare ordinary logistic regression and robust logistic regression models in modeling pre-diabetes risk factors. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study and conducted on 6460 people, over ...

Logistic regression for clustered data from environmental monitoring programs

Large-scale surveys, such as national forest inventories and vegetation monitoring programs, usually have complex sampling designs that include geographical stratification and units organized in clusters. When models are developed using data from such programs, a key question is whether or not to utilize design information when analyzing the relationship between a response variable and a set of...

The Analysis of Bayesian Probit Regression of Binary and Polychotomous Response Data

The goal of this study is to introduce a statistical method regarding the analysis of specific latent data for regression analysis of the discrete data and to build a relation between a probit regression model (related to the discrete response) and normal linear regression model (related to the latent data of continuous response). This method provides precise inferences on binary and multinomia...
